His holiness the 16th Karmapa Ranjung Rigpe Dorje
His Holiness wearing the Black Head it is believed it has been made by the angels hair called "Dakini"
His Holiness 16th Karmapa was
born in Denkhok, in the Denge region of Kham, Tibet, on the full moon day of
the sixth month of the year wood mouse 1923.
His Holiness was born in a aristocratic family named Athub. His father's
name was Tsewang Norbu and His mother name was Kalzang Choden. The birth of
great Bodhisatva in the Athub family ha been previously predicted by Dzhok
Chen Tulku, Chokyi Dorjee, head of the famous Nyingma monastery of Dzok
Chen. Acting on his advice, his mother had given birth near Guru
Padmashambhava cave, called the Lion Sky Castle.
Before the chld's birth His Holiness dissapeared entirely from the womb for one whole day and then returned the next day. On the actual night of His birth, the atmosphere was charged with portents, which everyone in the locality could sense.
These is a short syintesis of His Holiness birth the whole story can be read in the book of the history of 16 Karmapas.
Because of the Chinese invasion in the 50ies, the 16th Karmapa RANGJUNG RIGPE DORJE was forced to flee Tibet and leave the monastery in Thsurpu and to take refuge in India
His H.H. last world tour was in 1980-81, which he gave teachings, initiations and interviews in south – East Asia, Greece, UK and in America.
H.H. RANGJUNG RIGPE DORJE suffering from cancer passed away on the 5th November 1981 in the USA, in a Zion hospital, Illinois. In one of his last days of live, the Karmapa gave a blue sung-dhi (a blessed string), to a nurse which in turn she carried it inseparably for over 20 years.
A fortunate day she decided to seek an audience with H.H. the 17th Karmapa DAWA SANGPO DORJE. H.H. knew that she had that sung-dhi in her bag and asked her to take it out from the bag.
The nurse in question is still available to testify the truth.
Before passing away many Karmapa do leave letters containing information about their future incarnation.
The Shamarpa accuses Thai Situpa for the falsification of the prediction letter and to have nominated the false Karmapa Ogyen Tinley Dorje with the collaboration of H.H. the Dalai Lama and the Chinese authority. H.H. the Dalai Lama has been accused at the New Deli Court of this conspiracy.
On the other side, in the 19th century during the period of the 7th and 8th Dalai Lama, Shamar Rinpoche was declared a traitor by the minister of Tibet, Tenpai Goenpo and the Chinese emperor Ching, and expelled from all religious and political life and declared null all his future incarnations. Therefore, the Shamarpa does not have any religious or legal power to nominate the 17th Karmapa. For this reason Trinley Thaye Dorje nominated by Shamar Rinpoche is a false Karmapa.
